* Any student who receives a card all  4 quarters (3 for freshman) will go to king’s island at the end of the year.

A. Renaissance cards will be earned and distributed each 9 weeks.

B. Students have one week  from issuance of cards to deal with grade changes, complete incompletes, see to questions about cards and obtain their card. If this deadline is not met, a card will not be issued to the student for that grading period.

C. Students will not be penalized for dropping a test score in a class. Their final 9 week grade in that class will be determined by an adjusted grading scale. Example: If tests are worth 100 pts., then the grading scale for students using their Renaissance card would be 100 pts. less than other students grading scale.

D. Any student using a fraudulent card will have that card confiscated and not be eligible for a Renaissance card the next grading period. If the card belongs to another person, that person will have the same penalty occur.

H. If a student is physically not at school, he/she is considered absent for the Renaissance program and not eligible for a card. School functions (field trips) are the exception.  Home instruction, alternative school, SBH, and excused as physically absent from SWHS, i.e. not eligible for a card.

I. Tech Prep and post secondary students cannot get renaissance cards.

J. A maximum of four and a minimum of two 9th grade students will be chosen for the Student Renaissance Board at the end of their freshman year. Student and adult Renaissance board members vote on incoming sophomores with student member votes counting as 1 and adult board member votes counting as 2.  If a tie occurs, the adult members will decide to take five members or revote with adult board members only voting the second time.  At the end of each year, the adult board members will evaluate the current student members. A student board member can be removed if not fulfilling obligations or not representing the Renaissance board in an appropriate manner and a replacement may be deemed by the adult board.

K. When a Student Renaissance Board member does not meet Renaissance requirements for a grading period, he/she does not participate in meetings and events, If the student does not meet requirements 3 of the 4 grading periods (during 9 week grading periods) in one year, he/she relinquishes their Renaissance Board position.

L. If a post secondary student is on the Student Renaissance Board, that student is no longer eligible for the board.  Likewise, CTC students cannot be on the board.

M.  With a unanimous vote, staff board members reserve the right to put student board members on probation due to dereliction of duties.  The probationary board member will have one quarter for remediation during which time he/she will be expected to fulfill his/her responsibilities and duties more diligently.  The staff board members will meet with the probationary member at the end of that probationary period for a review of that member’s involvement resulting in the removal of the probation or the removal of said member from the board.
