South Webster 54 vs Northwest 32
The Jeeps were in great shape to begin tournament play tonight as their focus is on their last games of Jr. High basketball. Before the game, we all shared the same nervous feelings as no one wants to disappoint anyone else. These boys have always thought of themselves as "family" and you'll hear them break out of our huddles screaming just that as they make their way out on the court. Gabe Chapman and Skyler Holbrook have played a large role in the posts this week with two of our family members out with injuries. Tonight they had to work out a couple Northwest boys a little larger than they were. While they didn't stat very well tonight, they played great defense and allowed very few second chance opportunities for the Mohawks. I believe JJ remembered what happened to him a couple weeks ago when we traveled to NW and he had an early exit to the game. Tonight, JJ followed that up with a double-double earning 19 points from the paint and free throw line, and grabbing 10 rebounds. JJ had a very healthy game on both sides of the ball and came just short of dunk attempt #2. Tanner Voiers stepped up with another big game as he strongly entered every stat category tonight. We need this kind of game out of him Saturdayas we face a much improved Wheelersburg team in the semi finals. Aidan, Cayden, and Josh together put up a heavenly number scoring 7 a piece and played heads up defense applying pressure on their ball handlers. Wes, Timmy and Kyle played hard in the minutes they put in and played with patience on offense down the stretch in a game that could've been reckless by having a large lead. Saturday will be a great day of basketball for the Jeeps beginning with our 7th Grade Girls playing West in the championship at 8:30, the 7th Grade Boys playing Wheelersburg in a semi final game at 11:30 and our 8th Grade Boys playing in a semi final game with Wheelersburg at 4:00. Jeeps improve to 14-2 on the season with the win tonight!
