Heading Into the 2024-2025 Jeeps Basketball Season
Get ready Jeep Nation because it is the beginning of the most exciting time of the year for the town of South Webster. Basketball season is now upon us. As we look forward to a great season, let us take a look at how the girls bounce back this season with such a young team, and how the boys will kick start the Revenge Tour.
The Lady Jeeps have an extremely young roster going into this year’s season. The charge is led by senior Cailee Blevins, and junior, Addi Claxon. Following them is a team consisting of one more junior, seven sophomores, and four freshmen. While most of the team seems inexperienced at the high school level, the determination and dedication from these girls is astounding. Numbers in the region are low for girls basketball but our girls have a solid roster and bright future ahead of them that begins this season. With this group, we are happy to be able to put together a JV team along with the Varsity team which many schools in the area are seeming to have trouble with.
Along with the dedicated players on this girls team, they have the coaches that are also putting in the hard work. This year’s coaching staff is led by head coach Ryan Dutiel. Assistants are Lindsay Mantell and, the newest addition, Cortland Bowman.
On the boys side, this season looks to be one for the ages as the Jeeps come back this year with more determination than ever before. On the varsity squad this year, the seniors are Eli Roberts, Dylan Shupert, Owen Mault, and Christian White. Following them are four juniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen. Along with them is a promising JV group. These boys lost a heartbreaker last year in the regional final. Coming back this year, it is almost an identical team just without three vital seniors from last year. Juniors Beau Stephens and Brycin McClintic look to fill in those big spots that were lost from last year’s team. This team is full of determination with a chip on their shoulder. A great season and far tournament run can be expected from a group of boys like this.
This year’s coaching staff is led by head coach Norm Persin who is going into his second year with the Jeeps and coming off of last season with his 800th total win of his career. Assistants are Jimmy Persin and Ryan Fenton. This is an identical coaching staff to last year and these coaches are not shy of will power coming off of the past season.
These South Webster teams plan to give the town an exciting season of basketball. The young Lady Jeeps have great leaders and great young talent that plans to begin a season full of momentum for the future. The boys have a special season to look forward to that is fueled by a strong senior class and revenge in their sights. Both teams have experienced head coaches and promising staff that will lead these teams to where they deserve to be.
The town of South Webster has an exhilarating season to look forward to this winter.
