Jeeps vs. Jeeps at Hoosier Gym

The Webster basketball teams traveled to Knightstown, IN for the “Battle of the Jeeps” matchups. The only two schools in the country with the “Jeep” mascot are Northeast Dubois High School and, of course, South Webster High School.

The girls game started us off. It was a very competitive game through the first few minutes. Northeast Dubois found some momentum in the last bit of the first quarter and used that throughout the rest of the game. Early foul trouble from Addi Claxon hurt the Lady Jeeps but there was always some fight in the team. With a final score of 76-41, the Lady Jeeps of Northeast Dubois prove themselves to be the best Lady Jeeps team in the country. The South Webster Lady Jeeps move to 2-11 on the season.

For our South Webster Lady Jeeps, one player stood out the most. Cailee Blevins led the team in points with 19 and had 4 assists on top of that. She also knocked down 2 threes as a part of those 19 points. The second leading scorer was Addi Claxon with 16. The foul trouble found Addi in a tough position but she still found a way to grab 16 with a couple of three-pointers. Addi also had a solid run towards the end of the game to put some life into the team.

On the boys side, there is no other way to describe this game other than physical and intense. Webster started this game hot. Quick threes from Christian White got the Webster fans going and forced Northeast Dubois into a quick timeout. Each team had their moments with momentum but the physicality was present for the whole game. Each team’s crowd was loud for the whole game and the small gym made the atmosphere 10x more intense. It was without a doubt Webster’s most physical game of the season as they walked away from it with a 64-55 win and the title of the best Jeep basketball team in the country. This game keeps them undefeated with a 10-0 record.

On the individual side, nobody matched the performance from Eli Roberts. Eli finished with 32 points, 3 threes, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block. This consistent and physical performance helped propel Webster to this big win. Christian White played a big role with big scores when needed and 9 points. Hunter Barnard and Owen Mault played good defensive games with Barnard finishing with 3 steals then Mault finishing with 2 blocks and a steal.

The atmosphere from the South Webster community in Knightstown was like none other and these will definitely go down as a couple of the most memorable games in South Webster basketball history.
