The last week of Jeeps basketball was busy with 3 girls games and 2 for the boys. Each team played Valley while the girls had back-to-back games against Wheelersburg. The boys finished the week off with the homecoming game against Burg.
On Monday, the girls played Valley in what was a tight battle to start that slowly got away. Valley pulled away in their win with a final score of 41-25.
Cailee Blevins was the leading scorer with 11 points and she also acquired 2 assists. Addi Claxon played solid all around with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 steals.
The girls unfortunately took two losses in their quick two games against Burg. A solid start in Wednesday’s game couldn’t keep up with the Pirates in these ones. Burg took these games with final scores of 60-42 and 52-28.
In the first matchup, Claxon had a great game with 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 steals. After these performances, Claxon is 3rd across the whole state in total steals and 7th in SPG. Claxon is 2nd in total steals and SPG in just division VII.
For the boys, they opened their week up in Lucasville to take on Valley. The Jeeps put the hammer down in this game with a demanding 75-49 win. From tip-off to the final buzzer, the Jeeps were in control and the Indians could not find any momentum through the course of the game.
Some great performances came from Eli Roberts with 24 points, Dylan Shupert with 17 points and 4 steals, Brycin McClintic with 14 points, and Hunter Barnard with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Friday’s game was homecoming night against Wheelersburg. The Pirates snagged the first points of the game. From then on, they had no chance. The Jeeps were forcing missed shots and turnovers the whole game. Frustration from Burg got the best of them and Webster absolutely took advantage.
Nobody had a game like Eli Roberts. Roberts could not miss, especially from beyond the arc. Deep threes and powerful paint status got Roberts to finish with 23 points even with being taken out early.
Both teams play Minford and Portsmouth West next with the boys also facing up against Notre Dame.
