Boys Basketball Season Recap
This season for the Jeeps will go down in history as one of the best seasons the program has ever had. This team is one of just the three South Webster basketball teams to hang a banner as they made it to the state tournament.
The boys fell short of a state championship appearance but still have much to be proud of as the first team to make the Final Four since 2006. The list of top accomplishments this season are SOC runners-up, district champions, and regional champions. They also finished with an impressive 22-4 record.
Our departing seniors include Eli Roberts, Dylan Shupert, Owen Mault, and Christian White. All four of these guys played huge roles in this tournament run as they were all starters.
Eli Roberts finished his career as a 1000 point scorer and was a varsity starter for all of his career. He was reliable from beyond the arc hitting big threes and also inside the paint throwing down dunks. Roberts continued his father’s strong legacy in Webster basketball.
Dylan Shupert finished as a 4-year varsity player and an important key to the team’s success on the district championship teams and regional championship team. Shupert has had a role in the tournament every year of his career with coming off the bench in the tournament his freshman year to hitting big shots in the Final Four as a senior.
Owen Mault was a transfer and really held down the defensive end. While Owen finished as one of the best defensive players in the conference, he could also knock down shots. This showed plenty as he hit a clutch three in the regional championship and also prevented a final shot from Notre Dame to secure the regional title.
Last but not least, Christian White was also a transfer to go along with Mault. White’s IQ on the court kept the team chemistry strong. Smart plays from White have gotten the Jeeps a long way and his role will be an important one to fill. When necessary, White can knock down threes whether pressure is on or not. We saw a big three from him late in the game during the state semi game.
This season will absolutely be remembered as it was one of the best the school has ever seen. While there are four graduating from this team, the roster is still talented and we have some more success to look forward to in the coming seasons.
Have a great week Jeep Nation…GO JEEPS!
