From Mr. Greg Sullivan, Athletic Director/Assistant Principal:
Due to the state department's health order, only a limited number of fans can attend sporting events. The health order mandates the school to use 15% of the maximum seated capacity for indoor and outdoor events. This means the high school gym can seat a little over 200 people but the soccer field can only hold 68. I know that sounds ridiculous due to how much space the stadium has; however, please remember that the 15% is based off of the maximum seated capacity and the soccer bleachers are not that big. Portable bleachers cannot be used unless they are approved by the county health department AND the state health department.
With all that being said, the families of the athletes will have first priority for tickets. Each athlete, including the ones from the visiting team, will be given a specific number of tickets prior to the game. These tickets are to be given to family members and/or close friends. Upon arrival to the event, each fan must be wearing a mask or facial covering and undergo a temperature check. The fan will show his/her ticket to the ticket taker and pay $5. If the fan is an employee of Bloom-Vernon Local Schools, admission will be free. Any district employee that wants to attend a game must have a ticket from one of the athletes. Tickets will not be sold at the gate. The bleachers in each venue will be sectioned into pods. The pods will be socially distanced. Each pod in the gym will accommodate four people; the pods at the stadium will accommodate one or two people. Spectators must stay in the same pod during the entire event. There is to be no pod/seat jumping.
Inspections can happen at any time by the health department. If guidelines are not followed, the facility can be shut down and games can be forfeited.
I wish everyone could attend our games. Unfortunately, that is not the case and many loyal community members, even some that do not have children in the school system, will not be able to attend. Student sections are not possible either. This is not an ideal situation by any means, but we have to maintain proper protocol in hopes of having full seasons in all sports.
Thank you for your understanding!
Greg Sullivan
