This past Saturday, our inaugural Jr High MathCounts team competed against teams from across the region at Ohio University in Athens. Unfortunately, our team did not place at the top, but they still represented South Webster very well and had a great day touring OU and exploring the Engineering Department's STEM Day. Please congratulate this great group on their efforts if you can. It is rare in the day and age of video games, cell phones, and television that kids will give up time after school or before school to work challenging math problems and get up on a Saturday morning to travel over an hour to compete against larger schools and private schools that have advanced math courses in Jr High and pull out enrichment programs during the day to help them prepare. I appreciate their efforts and hope to keep the program going in the future. I know many of you have impacted these students over the years by teaching them character and a love for learning. They wouldn't be doing this without your influence. Thank you!
